“Art is my elixir of life.
It’s my end-to-end narrative.”

My
Life

Coming from a family interested in technology on my father’s and in art on my mother’s side, I had definitely sided with my mother as a two-year-old. I was more interested in the aesthetics of a toy than its mechanics or technology. After graduating from high school and a short excursion into the world of artists, my passion finally found its destiny in art history, which offered me every opportunity to share and live out my enthusiasm in many ways. Already during my studies I was allowed to publish articles in gallery and museum catalogues and talk about art.

I really picked up speed after my doctorate. I worked both as a lecturer at the University of Dortmund and at the same time was the author of a compendium on the Dutch still life painters of the 17th century. While this three volume publication was still being released, I received a call to the Busch-Reisinger Museum at Harvard University in Cambridge, USA. My assignment there mainly involved the scientific work on a collection of drawings of German post-war art. Under “German Marks” this book is published. Back from the USA, I was able to obtain additional training in management and marketing. So I left science and began with the gallery activity: First during 5 years as a manager of the renowned and internationally known gallery Michael Werner in Cologne, then to new shores with goal Berlin.

The metropolis of artists and museums had always fascinated me. Now, together with the Michael Haas Gallery there, it became my new home. The feeling of being at home in Berlin remains unbroken to this day. My professional commitment, however, has shifted: to Zurich, where I founded the Galerie Haas Zürich together with Michael Haas in 2003 and managed it until January 2021. Many exhibitions and corresponding publications with own texts stand for 18 successful years there. And then it was time once again to start a new chapter: With the founding of in.art AG in Baden (Switzerland), I am now acting, consulting and publishing independently and with great enthusiasm nationally as well as internationally.
